School Life

Oxlow Bridge will be opening with a very small group of pupils and grow every year until it reaches capacity. The first classes will have 6-7 pupils per class of similar needs, and they will be supported by one teacher and 3 support assistants.

The school will follow a sensory based personalised curriculum which will start with baselining and assessing the learning needs of each individual pupil who joins us based on the Engagement model.

As we are starting with Reception and Nursery aged pupils, our sensory based personalised curriculum will develop from the Early Years model. We will set individual targets to help pupil develop their skills in key areas including communication, independence, mobility and understanding the world around them.

We will link our learning to termly topics and there will be lots of opportunities to be creative, get messy, play and have fun.

The school will be very small when we open, but this will also allow the staff team to develop and grow the curriculum and establish firm partnerships that will help us to develop our vision and values.

The pupils and their families will be at the heart of everything we do and will be the lead for how we develop.

There are specialist rooms for school nursing and physiotherapy teams to use when they are on site.

Physical programmes and use of specialist equipment will be embedded in pupils daily routines and staff will be trained how to deliver these.
