Our topic this Term is “Colours”
Below you will find a list of stories we are exploring in our classrooms.
If you do not have copies of these stories at home, you can click on the links below to find some good videos that will read each one.
Below you will find a list of activities that may support your child at home to learn about and explore different colours.

These mixing bags are simple and cheap ways to explore mixing colours without the mess. They are also really good for children who are not comfortable with touching wet/messy substances.
If you click on the picture below, it will take you to a video which will show you how you can make your own colour mixing sensory bottles at home.

fine and gross motor skills
co-ordination

Stretchy colourful fidget toys are good for
building up muscle strength

Colourful balls with different textures will help
develop sensory awareness

Colourful light up toys are great for getting a
child’s attention. They are especially useful for
children with Visual Impairments.

You can even buy some excellent light up toys
that can be used in the bath.
Molly (our Speech and Language Therapist) has suggested some activities below that may support the children with their communication.
- Objects of reference
- Intensive interaction (please contact Molly if you would like further information on this)
- Opportunities to request more/continue (e.g. with bubbles, sensory toys, music, snacks)
- Ready steady go games
- Sensory stories
- Choice making during play
- Sensory walks at home or outside (e.g. finding objects, touching different textures with hands and feet etc)
- Bucket time (Molly is happy to provide more information for this if required)
